Danes Capture Two Third Place Finishes at Regionals

The Danes varsity girls tennis team finished seventh out of 12 teams Friday at the Regional Championships at Cheyenne Mountain High School.

No. 2 doubles Maggie Imig and Jayne Kucharski lost to Walden/Gilles (Cheyenne Mountain), 0-6, 1-6

No. 3 doubles Ji Won Park and Caroline Verbica lost to Gutierrez/Williams (Vanguard), 6-7 (1), 1-6

Playbacks
No. 2 singles Alyssa Mavor lost to Sarah Hughes (Vanguard), 6-7 (2), 5-7

No. 3 singles Rina Onishi defeated Whitney Schuck (Vanguard), 6-0, 6-2 (after only a 30-minute break from her St. Mary's win) and Amanda Tarby (Sand Creek), 6-3, 6-4. Rina Onishi finished third overall.

No. 2 doubles Imig/Kucharski defeated Erenberger/Gardner (St. Mary's), 6-7 (9), 6-3, 6-2 and lost to Callahan/Snively, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (5). Imig/Kucharski finished fourth overall.

No. 3 doubles Ji Won Park and Caroline Verbica defeated Bernier/Simon (Coronado), 6-3, 6-4 and defeated Lundwall/Lee (Air Academy) 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Park and Verbica finish thrid overall.

No. 4 doubles Hiroko Omura and Bineshii Hermes-Roach defeated Hamawy/Hershberger (Coronado), 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 and lost to Joseph/Scherb, 1-6, 2-6. Omura and Hermes-Roach finished fourth overall.
