Danes Open Family Weekend With Win

April 30, 2012
Fountain Valley School

The Danes hosted the Cyclones of Pueblo West on Friday afternoon. In a heated match, the Danes prevailed with strong offensive play from the midfield and attack, and a smothering defense against the Cyclones offense.

Jackson Pinney played very well on close defense, cleared the ball several times and even scored a goal. Boone Scheer and Alex Viader utilized their aggressive play and clearing ability to thwart most of the Cyclones’ possessions. Mat Larimer made 17 saves and made some excellent outlet passes to turn the ball down the field.

Offensively, the Danes played well, patiently controlling the ball and producing 14 goals, seven of which were assisted. Luke Dilzell exploded for five goals in the game. The halftime score was 7-3 and the coaching staff encouraged the players to continue to play aggressively in the second half. The Danes responded to the call with seven more goals in the second half.

Dane goals were scored by Ian Pelto (3), Sam Frost (1), Tristen Beck (1), Luke Dilzell (5), Sage Houle (2), Jackson Pinney (1), Jay Robinson (1).
