Fountain Valley School

For the game against Mitchell, FVS won in three, letting Mitchell get the second game. The scores were FVS 25-21, 22-25, 15-9.

Senior starter Youngsun Won was away college touring, so Chris Cha '15 filled his spot rather than playing his usual libero position. Although the Danes took a while to adjust to the changes, by the third game the Danes were back in the swing of things.

Defensively, the Danes scooped up 15 digs with Hunter Alexander '12 and Manolo Jimenez '14 taking the lead with three each. Middles Gilbert Chiu '12 and Phil Fan '15 each had a solo block. Passing in serve receive was strong against Mitchell; Alexander led with 10 perfect passes off a serve total. Cha followed with six perfect passes.

Offensively, the Danes struggled with a high number of errors on attacks and several missed serves. Highlights include three kills by Jimenez, six by Alexander, six by Will Chu '13, and three by Chiu. Nikolaus Schaefer '14 had an amazing four-point serving streak in the second game, one of them scoring as an ace! Chu had a high five aces, three of them in a row, followed by Jimenez with four, and Cha with two.

Though energy and flow lacked in the second game, the Danes came out ready to be aggressive and have fun in the third game, and it showed with a score of 15-9!
