Home » Girls' Swimming & Diving NewsDanes Dominate All-Conference NominationsFebruary 19, 2012 By Ryan Kaufman of Fountain Valley SchoolAlanna Erickson and the Fountain Valley Swimming and Diving team had a awards performance on Friday that would make Adele jealous. All-Conference Awards were given out and Rob Gustke's team picked up nine nominations which was the most of any team in the conference. Erickson on her own received as many awards as a couple of entire teams did. The anchor of the Danes (literally and metaphorically) picked up five awards in all, including two 1st Team nods in the 50 and 100 Freestyles and nominations as a member of the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. She also picked up the most prestigous award given out on Friday, Swimmer of the Year. Erickson was not the only FVS Swimmer that picked up multiple awards. Fellow seniors Morgan McCurdy and Hannah Carrese were nominated for the two relay teams they are on and picked up three individual awards. McCurdy was Honorable Mention in both the 200 and 500 Freestyles and Carrese was Honorable Mention in the 50 Freestyle. You cannot talk about the Danes without talking about Maia Presti's incredible season. Friday, she added a 2nd Team All-Conference nomination to a list of accolades for the 2011-12 season that includes a 3rd place finish at the State Championships and two school records. Rounding out the awards for Fountain Valley were Ingrid Idland and Sophie Feffer who were important members of the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay Teams that received 1st and 2nd Team honors respectively. Now that awards season is coming to an end, Danes fans can look forward to a team in 2012 and 2013 that will be the envy of the conference and Class 4A led by Idland, Feffer, and Presti who will look to add a State Championship to the All-Conference awards they picked up this year.
