Danes Inch Closer to the Top with Win

February 13, 2012
Fountain Valley School

Palmer High School was one of the hottest teams in the league for much of the season, so FVS knew that they would be a formidable challenge. The Danes were well prepared and countered the Terrors' puck-moving tendencies with a disciplined forecheck and a team commitment to defensive-zone coverage.

Junior Trevor Shott (Beaverton) put the Danes ahead with a crafty goal at 12:00 of the first period, then Sophomore Jakub Myška (Liberec, Czech Republic) outmaneuvered the Palmer goaltender when he was fed with a netfront pass by Senior Ryan Harrison (Eagle River, Alaska). The Danes held on to the 2-0 lead until the final minutes of the third period when Palmer capitalized on a powerplay opportunity. FVS was hit with another penalty with under two minutes to play, but the penalty killers did an excellent job of preserving the lead, even after Palmer added a sixth attacker in the final minute.

This was another important conference win in the Danes' quest to secure home ice for the first round of the playoffs.
