Write down a "W" for FVS tonight as the Danes beat the Miami Yoder Buffaloes by a good margin. It was great to record a win, and as the game seemed to be in hand fairly early, the Danes used the time to work on their passing game and shift through their defenses.

"I am proud of our team for the balanced effort we displayed," head coach Paula Walter said. "Eight of nine players on the roster scored for us tonight. Our bench players were able to contribute significant minutes tonight, and the rotations helped rest tired legs before our game against Kiowa on Monday.

In the first quarter, Clare Hamilton drove immediately to the basket off the tip from Delia Brekken. She laid it in softly off the backboard and the team never really looked back. FVS started the game in a full-court press but pulled it back quickly when the team went up 11-2. From then on, the Danes used their 3-2, 2-3 and 1-3-1 zone defenses and packed it in the lane. Bailey Knecht had a great quarter, scoring seven points. Hamilton, Brekken and Heather Whitham each scored four. Whitham's points came off consecutive jumpers to the left of the basket, her sweet spot this season. Kim Donaldson added two points.

In the second quarter, Rina Onishi scored her first two points of the season from a banked 14-foot shot. Brekken added four more and Hamilton added two. The Danes abandoned the fast break in favor of the opportunity to work their half-court offense. The Danes briefly jumped into a man defense. The Danes shot 43.3% from the field in the first half.

In the third quarter, Ellie Taylor scored from the middle of the lane while Vicky Wang got on the board with five points, including 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Brekken added four, Donaldson, Taylor and Whitham each added two. Donaldson's basket was an impressive put-back from nearly behind the backboard.

In the final quarter, the Danes struggled to score but did a nice job of distributing the ball. Wang and Onishi each scored two.

The team committed 10 turnovers. Brekken had 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals. Knecht had seven points, one assist and two blocks. Wang had seven points, one assist, three rebounds and one steal. Hamilton had six points, three assists, one block and two steals. Whitham had six points, three assists and three rebounds. Onishi had four points and four rebounds. Donaldson had four points, five rebounds, three blocks and one steal. Taylor had two points, one assist, two blocks and six steals. Ji Won Park had two rebounds.
