Rangers Sweep Cambridge With Three Wins

December 7, 2012
By Jen Wagner of Forest Lake Girls Basketball

The Rangers came ready to play last night leaving with a 65-49 victory over Cambridge.  The game was close most of the way with each team making their own runs.  The Ranger's runs were due to their defensive pressure which lead to fast break points while Cambridge ignited their team with 3 point shooting.  Overall the Rangers stayed focus on the keys to winning the game and were able to contain many of Cambridge's pushes.  Anna Eckert had a huge performance pulling down 17 rebounds, 4 blocks, 6 points, and 3 steals.  Sarah Jaeb and a committee of others played outstanding defense on Cambridge's top player.  Again the Rangers had a balanced scoring attack lead by Bailey Norby's 23 points.  Great team win!

The Ranger JV team continued their winning ways with a victory over Cambridge Tuesday night.  Holding a small lead late in the second half, local team was able to close out the game with ball control and free throws.

The Forest Lake sophomore squad overcame a first half deficit to win 36-30 on the Cambridge home floor.  The Rangers exerperienced a tough shooting night missing some high percentage close range shots keeping the game close.  With each game the team gets better offensively and it showed with improved opportunities in the paint.  Increasing pressure and control of the paint allowed the Rangers to regain the lead holding off the Jackets for the second win of the season.  Next up for all teams, at North St. Paul on Thursday.
