All Ranger Teams WIN!!!

December 3, 2012
By Jen Wagner of Forest Lake Girls Basketball

The Rangers returned to the hard court on Friday with an impressive win over Mahtomedi 70-21.  The visiting Zephyrs were overwhelmed by the Forest Lake offensive attack from the tip off as our local team scored in transition and with half court offensive sets. The Rangers took full advantage of their deep bench providing playing minutes for much of the team.  Improvements every game remains a focus for this year’s team.  The Rangers reduced the number of opponent offensive rebounds and won each half representing improvement during this game.  The competition and schedule gets more challenging as the Rangers hit the road for an important early season match-up with a section opponent. The Ranger  play three games over the next five days starting with Cambridge on Tuesday night at the home of the Jackets.

JV had a dominating performance over Mahtomedi on Friday night with a 77-17 win.  The team improved on their execution and taking care of the ball on offense from Tuesday nights win.  Many players contributed in this win with either points scored or great defense played.

The Forest Lake sophomore basketball team win their first game of the season over visiting Mahtomedi 46-24 on Friday night.   The team increased their focus during practice on offensive execution and confidence attacking the rim.  It paid off as the Rangers found a rhythm leading to layups and high percentage shots throughout the game.  The team had balanced scoring as 9 of the 10 players scored against the visiting Zephyrs.  Controlling the paint offensively and defensively is one of the goals with this year’s team and meeting this goal was led by the post play of Katherine Watson and Emma Abress.  The Rangers travel to Cambridge on Tuesday night.
