The Rangers continue to march toward sections as the Ponies were the next team to experience the strong post play of sophomore Bailey Norby who posted 26 points this night. Forest Lake’s deep bench is quickly becoming a challenge for their opponents as Coach Wagner rotates four deep led by senior Rachel Bostrom who played well against the Stillwater trapping defense. The Rangers showed their poise when trailing by six points mid way into the second half only to battle back and regain the lead which they would not relinquish. The Rangers finish their regular season with a trip to Hastings on Friday. In their final contest of the season, the Forest Lake JV team faced the Stillwater Ponies. After the first half with a score of 16-15, the Rangers had to step it up on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Hailey Knoop gave the Rangers the spark they needed in the second half, knocking down some momentum-building threes. The Rangers came out on top 42-34, to finish off a very successful season. Andie Wohlk and Knoop contributed 10 points each to this victory while KP Palo added in 8. The Forest Lake JV ended with a record of 22-2. Forest Lake sophomores playing with improved confidence beats Stillwater on Tuesday 36-33. The rematch of game with the Ponies, who had earlier beaten the Rangers, confirmed the improved play of the sophomore team as they led for nearly the entire game. “We have been in close games, but haven’t been able to close them out, but tonight was different.” Coach Keller remarked. The Ranger defensive success can be attributed to increased pressure with emphasis on the opponents best player. Led by freshman Dana Larson, they defense created opportunities and the offense was able to respond with high percentage shots leading to the victory.
