Rangers beat Woodbury!

February 19, 2012
By Jen Wagner of Forest Lake Girls Basketball

Forest Lake makes its push toward section plan with an impressive win over Woodbury by the score of 69-61.   The Ranger fans, players, coaches and parents recognized three players; Micah McGuiness, Sam Anderson and Rachel Bostrom as part of senior night ceremonies prior to the start of the game.  The Ranger underclassman showed their gratitude for the senior leaders by providing a balanced scoring attack that kept the Royals looking at the scoreboard throughout the game.  Led by sophomores Anna Eckert and Bailey Norby, the local team posted one of its highest points total for the season on their way to beating Woodbury.  The Rangers finish the season with two road games starting with a trip to Stillwater on Tuesday.

The Forest Lake sophomore team bounced back against a Woodbury team during their rematch on Friday to fall just short 39-33.  The Royals handed the Rangers a double digit loss in their first game in early January, but improvements in scoring, team defense and passing has made the Rangers more competitive during their second run through conference play.  Led by strong man team defense and scoring by Chelsie Bethke, the game was played to the final minute when free throws by Woodbury would mean the difference.  The Rangers travel to Stillwater on Tuesday.
