Johnson gym and pulled a second victory on the road Saturday, December 8 against Oakwood University 48-47in Huntsville, Alabama to improve their record to 4-4 for the season. The Lady Bulldogs led 13-2 and Mid-Continent battled back to trail by two at the half. Guard Raona Stowers led the team with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Scoring ten points each also were freshman guard Simone Charles and junior center Nacori Foreman. Transfer guard Janine Davis was named player of the game as she controlled the tempo with eight points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals. Though falling to the Bulldogs, the visiting Cougars (4-12) had Stephanie Malone pour in 20 points and collect 12 rebounds. On Saturday, against Oakwood University, a balanced scoring attack by the Lady Bulldogs was paced by Senior guard Raona Stowers who scored 14 points and pulled down four rebounds. Center Nacori Freeman scored 8 points and collected 13 rebounds while guard Janine Davis and guard Rasheda Ademosu each scored 7 points. While shooting only 31% from the field and 57.9% from the free throw line, the defense of the Lady Bulldogs helped secure the victory despite the off shooting night. "I was proud of their resiliency and ability to preserve in a hostile environment," said first year Head Coach John McGraw. "We are slowly learning how to win together and our defense is really starting to come full fledge." The Fisk Lady Bulldogs will next play on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 3 p.m. at home against Tougaloo College (5-3) in the conference opener for both schools.
