Shawn Aylsworth of Fishers High SchoolClass 4A 19th-ranked Fishers posted a 4-3 upset of 4A No. 10 Avon in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference clash April 28. Fishers senior Koby Orris started the game with a triple before scoring on a base hit by Drew Clark. After Avon answered with a run in the second inning, J.P. Pena knocked a two-run homer in the third to put the Tigers back on top at 3-1. Avon fought back, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth, before Pena came up big again – twice. Pena started the bottom of the sixth with a triple before being knocked in by John Cordell, then closed out the game with a save. Connor McCalley had two hits for the Tigers, who moved to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in league play. Fishers returns to conference action April 29 by traveling to Avon for Game 2 of the home-and-home.
