Three Findlay Players Named to Boost Mobile Elite 24

Three Findlay players for the 2010-2011 season have been named to the Boost Mobile Elite 24 roster to take place Aug. 27-28 in Venice, Calif. Returner Nick Johnson and newcomers Myck Kabongo and Amir Garrett received invitations to be among the 24 in the 5th annual event.
Recently, Nick Johnson and Nigel Williams-Goss ('13) participated in the Nike Global Challenge and Winston Shepard ('12) played on the runner-up USA 2012 team in the Adidas Nations Experience. Johnson was all-tournament team at the Global Challenge, finishing 3rd in scoring at 27 points per game. He also was 4th in steals and 4th in 3-point field goals made. Despite being one of the youngest players invited, Nigel Williams-Goss finished 4th in assists per game at the event with 5 per.
Last season, two Findlay players were named to the game (Tristan Thompson & Cory Joseph). The Pilots won their 2nd consecutive ESPN Rise National High School Invitational last season. In three seasons under Coach Peck, Findlay is 97-3 and has qualified and sent every graduate to a division 1 university.

One of the fastest-rising prospects in the nation, Garrett is a smooth lefty. Before moving to Las Vegas, Garrett led Leuzinger (Lawndale, Calif.) to the school's first section-ever section title. Garrett averaged 16.8 points and 7.2 rebounds and was named the CIF Southern Section Division I-A Co-Player of the Year. He is headed back to Las Vegas as a senior where he'll be a major contributor to a program eyeing its second POWERADE FAB 50 title in three years.

The Arizona native wants to prove he's the nation's best dunker in the Under Armour Slam Dunk Contest. He'll have stiff competition from Deuce Bello and Jahii Carson. Win or lose, Johnson plays second fiddle as a dunker in his family to his father - L.A. legend "Jumpin" Joey Johnson. Nick averaged 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game last season for a balanced team that finished No. 3 in the POWERADE FAB 50.

The No. 7 ranked prospect in the ESPNU 100, Kabongo takes over as the Pilots' floor general for good friend and fellow Canadian Cory Joseph. As a junior, Kabongo helped St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) to a 20-1 record and a No. 4 ranking in the POWERADE FAB 50. Headed to Texas, Kabongo averaged 18 points and 6 assists for the Gray Bees on his way to ESPN RISE Underclass All-American honors. He kicked off his summer with MOP honors at the Pangos All-American Camp.

Featuring 24 of the top high school basketball players from across the nation, Boost Mobile Elite 24 participants are selected by high school basketball experts from ESPN RISE, ESPN College Basketball Recruiting and other leading talent evaluators. Players are selected based on their performance during the 2009-2010 high school basketball season, AAU tournaments and national summer camps.
The Boost Mobile Elite 24 event consists of a dunk competition, the Under Armour High School Slam Dunk Contest, on Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. EDT and a game on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. EDT. Both the dunk contest and the game will be televised live on ESPNU.
