Girls Soccer

April 20, 2014
By Colin McDavid of Hoke County High School

April 14th was a great day for the girls.  They travelled to conference leaders Lumberton and came away with a 2-1 victory.  That win put us in third place with 2 conference games remaining.  Alayna Lewis scored the first goal with an assist from Ashelynn Priest and the second goal was an own goal created by our forwards applying lots of pressure on the goalkeeper.  Hailey Johnson was superb in goal with 27 saves.

On April 17th we lost to Terry Sanford by 1-2.  Ashelynn Priest scored for Hoke and had a very good overall game.  Hailey Johnson made several big saves to keep the game close. Terry Sanford gave us a different look which will help us learn to adapt and the season progresses.

The girls are now on spring break and will return to action on April 28th against Purnell Swett.  This will be senior night for our three special seniors: Hailey Johnson, Kyle Bullock, and Alayna Lewis.  The game is at 6:00 p.m.
