Paris New Hoke Head Football Coach

April 12, 2014
Hoke County High School

Tom Paris, who's been an assistant principal at Hoke County High School for the last 13 months, will be the next head football coach at the school.

Paris' hiring was confirmed Friday by Hoke athletic director Gary Brigman.

"He's been at our school as an administrator,'' Brigman said. "We feel like he knows our kids and the kids know him. He'll be a good fit.''

Paris, a 1985 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne and a native of Red Springs, has made several stops in the Cape Fear region. He previously worked at Richmond Senior, Whiteville, Scotland, Hoke and last served as a head coach at Southern Lee.

"I'm doing what I've done most of my life,'' Paris said. He said he will continue to be an assistant principal when he transitions to the head football job and that his job responsibilities are evolving.

Paris said he wants to communicate with his players as soon as possible and meet with the coaching staff.

"We're by no means where I would like to be at this point in the year,'' he said. "We've got a lot to do.''
