Freshmen Football Wins Over South View 38-14

October 25, 2009
Hoke County High School

The Freshmen Football team won 38-14 on Thursday, October 22, over the South View Tigers at Raz Autry Stadium.

As has been the case for most of the season, the Bucks started the game slowly and spotted the Tigers an early lead. The Tigers reached the endzone first and lead 8-0 until the Bucks answered with a Jw. Harris TD pass to D. McRae. The extra points were no good and the Tigers would still lead 8-6. South View would score again and make the score 14-6. The Bucks offense again answered with a Jw. Harris TD run, making the score 14-12. The Bucks got their first lead of the game and went ahead 20-14 shortly before halftime on a S. McGougan TD run.

The Bucks would never look back in the second half as the defense completely shut down the South View offense and the Bucks offense added three more TD runs. The first TD run was scored by Jw. Harris on a QB rollout. The final two touchdowns came via a T. Covington run and a Jm. Harris run, respectively.

Jm. Harris had one interception and Jw. Harris added two more interceptions for the Bucks defense.

The Young Bucks finished the season strong, winning three in a row to get to their winning record of 4-3. The offense averaged 36 points over the last three games of the season while the defense allowed an average of only 9 points. The Freshmen showed improvement in their overall toughness and never gave up at any point during the season, even when their record was 1-3. Congratulations to the Freshmen Bucks.
