Megan Munroe State Qualifier
October 25, 2012Hoke County High School
On Tuesday, October 23rd, The Lady Bucks Golf Team competed in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Regional Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina on the No. 6 Course of Pinehurst Resort. In order for us to compete as a team, three golfers needed to qualify for the Regional Championship. These three young ladies were: Hailey Johnson (Jr), Briana Locklear (Jr.), and Megan Munroe (Fr.). This is the first time that we have qualified as a team under my direction of the program.
There are 7 conferences in our region which consist of: Central Piedmont, Piedmont Triad, Mountain Athletic, Metro, Mid South, Mid Eastern and the South East Conference. All seven conferences are represented by 42 different schools.
Your Lady Bucks represented their school, family, community, and county very well this year by finishing 9th at regionals. Out of all of these schools and conferences, they have been able to work their way to 9th best in just 3. These Ladies fired a team score of 338 to accomplish this.
We also had one young lady qualify for the State Championship. Megan Munroe will be going to Pinehurst on Monday and Tuesday (October 29th, and 30th) to compete for the North Carolina Women's State Golf Championship Crown. This will be a tough two day tournament, but we will be well represented on these days by Megan. She is in the top tier in the state of North Carolina Women's Golf and will be wearing our colors with pride.
The Lady Bucks have worked very hard this year and it seems to be paying off with the success that the team keeps mounting. Congratulations to them, and good luck to Megan next week.
