Home » Wrestling NewsPinecrest Wins State ChampionshipFebruary 26, 2012 Hoke County High SchoolPinecrest pulled off a stunning upset Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum, ending Winston-Salem Parkland's string of six consecutive N.C. High School Athletic Association wrestling tournament titles. With just one state champion, 152-pound Dustin Roemer, Pinecrest amassed 100.5 points to slip past Southern Alamance and Parkland for the title. Southern scored 95.5 points to 94 for third-place Parkland. Roemer was one of four Cape Fear region wrestlers who won championships Saturday. Scotland High School's Nick Kee headed the list, repeating as a state champion as he won the 4-A classification at 170 pounds. He was named the 4-A tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Hoke County's Richard Tolston placed third in the 106 pound weight class earning All State. This is the second All State Wrestler for Hoke County in the past 3 years. Hoke finished 26th in the field of 77. The Southeastern Conference placed three teams in the top third of the teams with Scotland finishing 6th as a team.
