Bobcats sweep the Bearkatz!

The Flippin Bobcats pulled the sweep of Melbourne Monday night in 3A1E confernce action.  It took a triple over time win by the SR Boys to pull it through.

Flippin hosted Melbourne Monday night in 3A1E conference play. 

 In the JR Boys game Flippin won 50 to 38.  They led 19 to 10 after 1, 29 to 23 at haltime, and 41 to 27 after 3.  Leading Flippin was Tanner Theobold with 14, Trevor Rainbolt with 12, Tim Smyser 10, Zac Brundige 5, Parker Burris 3, Alec Kirk and Donovan Grunewald with 2 each.

The Lady Bobcats won 51 to 43.  Flippin led 10 to 9 after 1, 24 to 23 at half, 34 to 29 after 3.

The senior boys game went into a triple over time back and forth thriller.

 Flippin led 12 to 11 after 1, 21 to 19 at half then the scoring picked up.  Flippin led 35 to 34 after 3.  Flippin trailed 49 to 48 with under 20 seconds to play, when Josh Rogers stole the ball and Spencer Politte scored and was fouled.  He made the free throw to give Flippin a 2 point lead.  Melbourne came down and scored to send the game to OT tied at 51.  Flippin led 59 to 58 with 39 seconds left in the first OT, Jacob Leonard made a free throw to give Flippin 60 to 58 lead.  McKAne Curtis made 1 of 2 free throws with 7 seconds left to give Flippin a 61 to 58 lead.  Kyler Mclaughlin went the length of the court for Melbourne and made a 3 that sent the game into the second OT tied at 61.

 The game was tied at 65 to end the third OT as both teams missed free throws with under 10 seconds left.  Flippin led 72 to 71 with a minute to go in OT.  Mclaughlin hit a jumper to give Melbourne a 73 to 72 lead with 30 seconds to go.  Jacob Leonard hit a jumper with 10 seconds to go to give the Bobcats the 74 to 73 lead.  Melbournes last attempt fell short.

Flippin was led by Spencer Politte with 18, Ty Lieninger with 15, Josh Rogers with 14, Jacob Leonard 9, Landry Kopacz and Dean Smyser each had 7, McKane Curtis had 3 and Brenton Butcher added 1.

 Flippin improves to 16 and 6 over all and 3-2 in conference play.  They travel to Marshall Tuesday night and host Bergman Friday night.
