                                          FERRIS vs CRANDALL

Dear Ferris Yellow Jackets Community,

First of all I wanted to say thank you again for your support of the athletic program and the football team. Friday night was a special night for the senior athletes as well as the entire Ferris Community as the Yellow Jackets defeated Crandall to clinch a playoff spot. After a long season, it is great to see these young men’s hard work payoff in such a critical win over an opponent that has been a thorn in our side for over 15 years. Friday, we finally removed the thorn and in convincing fashion, defeated the Crandall Pirates 41-28. It was an exciting and emotional win for all involved and we want to thank you for being there to support these young men.

Highlights from the game were offensively, Robert Grady had 283 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, while Jay Foster added another 80 on the ground and a touchdown. The entire offensive line was named the teams MVP this week as they helped the Jacket offense compile over 400 yards of offense. These young men are: Robbie Gray, Martin Delgado, Eric Flores, Austin Thomas, Eduardo Garcia and Matthew Guerra. Defensively, the Yellow Jackets pitched a shut out in the second half, being led by Jr. Gutierrez, Kolby Luttrell, Devontay Pryor, Javaughn Thurmon and Robert Grady. The Defense proved stingy all night coming up with key turnovers to get the Offense back on the field.

This week we take on Van Vandals at Mesquite Memorial Thursday at 7:30. We encourage all to come out and take part of this great night as we look to accomplish another one of our goals we set, winning in the playoffs.

We appreciate all your support throughout this season and we look forward to seeing you Thursday night in Mesquite.

Thanks for all you do and as always Go Yellow Jackets!

8-29-30                                FERRIS vs. FAIRFIELD

First of all I want to thank everyone who came out and supported your new look Ferris Yellow Jackets on Friday night against Fairfield.

Those of you who were not at the game probably woke up Saturday morning, saw the score and thought what a blowout. However, if you were in attendance, you know that through 3 quarters of play, the score was 14-7 and as exciting a game as I have ever been a part of.

In the home opener, we started 6 sophomores and 2 freshmen and throughout the game, our youth, mental mistakes and adjustments to a new program ended up being the difference in the game. Before half, we had 2 touchdowns called back because of penalties and in the 3rd quarter, we were 1 mistake away from another score. After analyzing the game this weekend, we left 21 points on the field and against good teams such as Fairfield, this will get you beat.

Offensively the Jackets were led by Keegan Harris who was 11-20 passing for 132 yards; Robert Grady passed 1-1 for 20 yards and a touchdown and also led the Jackets on the ground with 14 carries for 75 yards. Defensively, the Jackets were led by Montana James who had 8 tackles and Robert Grady who had 11 tackles and an interception.

This week we travel to Grapevine Faith and I believe if we fix some minor mistakes, we will be coming home with a victory.

I want to thank the Ferris Yellow Jacket Community once again for your continued support of our student-athletes and we look forward to seeing you each and every Friday night throughout the season.

Thank You and GO JACKETS!
