INSPIRATION FOR RUNNERS
Girls Distance Team Dominates at JV Conference!
May 16, 2014By Sarah Keiser of Armstrong Girls Track & Field
Hello Falcon Tracksters!
Well, if you were not at the JV conference meet yesterday evening hosted by AHS, you certainly missed out!
On the distance side of things, our girls were chomping at the bit to PR in the mile and for some to reach the elusive sub 6 minute goal! Because of that, we raced all of our JV athletes in the 1600 meter race which proved to be a success!
10 Lady Falcons took to the track for the 1600 meter race and all 10 achieved career personal best times! Nice work Leah Rudd, Jessica Schletzer, Alison Brecheisen, Bella Libra, Samantha Parsons, Kelsi Rippberger, Jordyn Massop, Paige Olsen, Emily Christensen and Emma Fox! Additionally, 5 of the 10 broke 6 minutes for the very first time! First time sub 6 minute gals were: Leah Rudd, Jessica Schletzer, Alison Brecheisen, Bella Libra and Samantha Parsons! NICE WORK LADIES! Your sub 6 minute shirts will look fabulous on you! Also, Leah Rudd moved up from 10th to 9th on the season top 10 list for the 1600, and Jessica Schletzer made the list for the first time ever!
Your Lady Falcons also finished off the meet in style by taking 1st place in the 4x400 meter relay. Way to be Jessica Schletzer, Bella Libra, Emily Christensen, and Dottie Anderson!
Today (Friday) is the last mandatory day of practice for JV athletes, but we encourage them to continue coming to practice as there are 2 non school sanctioned last chance meets that they can participate in at Wayzata High School.
Wayzata High School hosts two last chance meet opportunities for Distance Runners. They will be on Wednesday 5/28 at 4:00pm and Tuesday 6/3 at 7:00pm at Wayzata High School. These are a great opportunity to have one last shot at a time drop. These meets are not official meets and therefore athletes cannot wear Armstrong uniforms and there will be no school transportation provided. Talk to Coach Stephens if you have any questions.
Looking forward we have Varsity NW Suburban Conference Championships next Tuesday and Thursday at Coon Rapids. More details to come regarding these meets.
In the meantime.....GO FALCONS!
