April 24, 2014By Sarah Keiser of Armstrong Girls Track & Field
Alright folks, I have the final (hopefully) update for tomorrow's competitons. Early release for all girl track athletes (both Hamline participants and Wolfpack participants) is at 1:30 tomorrow. Busses depart AHS at 1:45pm. Pickup at PMS at 1:50pm. All athletes arrive at Wolfpack Invite at approximately 2:45pm. Field events begin at Wolfpack at 3:45 and running events begin at 4pm. At approximately 3:45pm the Hamline Elite Meet participants leave the Wolfpack Invite in a school van with Coach Keiser and Coach Fisher and drive to Hamline University. The rest of the athletes will stay at the Wolfpack Invite and compete in their events. at 5:58pm, the Varsity 4x800 will race at the Hamline Elite Meet. When they are finsihed and done with their cool down, they will again board the school van and Coach Fisher and Coach Keiser will drive them back to the Wolfpack Invite. Arrival time back to Wolfpack Invite will be approximately 6:45pm. At the conclusion of the Wolfpack Invite, all athletes will board the school busses and return to AHS.
Notable performances from Tuesday's meet at Andover included Jessica Schletzer dropping a whopping 27 seconds off of her 1600 meter personal record! She finished with a time of 6:13.6! Nice work Jessica! Look forward Jessica being the next new member of the sub 6 minute club! Additionally all of the girls in the 4x800 meter team from Tuesday earned personal record times! Nice work Laura Mayer, Dottie Anderson, Kelsi Rippberger, and Samantha Parsons. The biggest 4x800 PR being from freshmen Dottie Anderson. Dottie dropped 7 seconds off of her previous 800 personal record! In the girls open 800 we had quite the showdown between the AHS girls team best 7 mid distance athletes. 5 of the seven girls ran season PR's and 2 of those 5 ran all time PR's. Most notably, Jordan Gray ran an all time PR time of 2:29! Any time a Senior who has been with the program since middle school can run an all time PR is pretty darn amazing! Nice work Jordan! Mae Barnes a rookie 7th grader dropped a huge 8 seconds off her her previous 800 time, moving her into 3rd on our season top 10 list for the 800 meter run (and she's just a 7th grader!). Looking forward to watching Mae continue to drop time in her mid distance races in the season, and years, to come. In the 4x400 all four girls ran all time personal records! Nice work Samantha Parsons, Bella Libra, Kelsi Rippberger, and Dottie Anderson.
That should about do it for this week. Next week we have to Varsity Invitational meets. Tuesday at Maple Grove High School, and Saturday at Carleton College. I will send info for those meets by Monday next week. In the meantime a couple fabulous photos captured by our super photographer parent Mark Nachbor are attached below for your viewing enjoyment.
Hope to see everyone tomorrow in the beautiful 65 and sunny weather at our scheduled competitions!
