Osseo Meet Results and the Upcoming Meet
April 9, 2014By Sarah Keiser of Armstrong Girls Track & Field
Well folks, the meet at Osseo was a great one! We had decent weather and lots of great performances! Thank you to all who made it out to cheer on your lady falcons!
In the girls 1600 meter run we had 8 girls racing (Ellee Petersen, Hannah Rudd, Kelsi Rippberger, Leah Rudd, Dottie Anderson, Alison Brecheisen, Samantha Roen,a nd Celine Moos) and all 8 had season personal records! And 6 of the 8 had all-time personal record times! Even more exciting, we have a new member of the AHS girls sub 6 minute club! Dottie Anderson ran a sub 6 minute mile for the first time ever! Nice work Dottie! Wear that coveted sub 6 minute shirt with pride!
In the girls 800 Jordan Gray and Anna Nachbor place 2nd and 3rd. Anna achieved a season PR and Jordan an all-time PR. Megan Frensko and Emily Christensen also ran the 800 meter race and both achieved PR's as well.
Mae Barnes and Kelsey Sather shook things up a bit and ran a sprint (200meter) instead of a distance race and represented us well! Kelsey placed 2nd with at time of 27.2, and Mae Barnes posted a time of 29.1 which is currently the 7th fastest 200meter time on the Armstrong girls team.
The girls 2 mile was probably the most successful race of the evening for the falcon girls team, as we had 3 runners and all 3 runners achieved all-time personal record times! Kara Andersen led the pack and finisished with a time of 12:31.2, which was 15 seconds faster than her previous personal record. Jessical Schletzer knocked a a whopping 45 seconds off of her previous best time and Jordyn Massop knocked 33 seconds off of her previous personal record! Nice work ladies!
Looking forward to the rest of this week, we have team photos on Thursday. Athletes should bring their full uniform and warmups with them to practice on Thursday for the team photo. Also, they should bring their order form and money if they are choosing to purchase photos.
We also have one more meet this week. On Friday we are competing in the Knights under the Lights invitational at Irondale High School. Unlike the Osseo meet yesterday, this meet is a LIMITED ENTRY meet. Which means not all athletes will be competing in this meet.
If you are a mid distance or distance athlete and your name is NOT on this line up, it means you will not be participating in the meet. Non mid distance/distance athletes should check with their event coaches to find out if they will be competing. For Friday'smeet, there will be an early bus and a late bus. Only 4x800 meter runners and field events will take the early bus. This bus will depart AHS at 1:45 and those athletes will be excused at 1:25pm. Everyone else will ride the late bus which will depart the high school at 2:30pm. This bus will stop and pick up PMS athletes at 2:35pm.
Friday's meet will begin at 4:15pm and will be a rolling schedule (no specific time schedule followed). This meet has ALOT of events and will likely go very late. Athletes should dress appropriately (lots of layers and warm clothes), and they should also bring their own supply of water and snacks.
That should just about do it for this week's announcements!
