Welcome 2014 Track and Field Season!

Greetings all and welcome to the 2014 AHS Girls Track and Field season!

Let's get the boring business out of the way right off.  First, I did my best to delete emails on our list that no longer are attached to 2014 athletes. However, if you recieve this email and you wish to not recieve future AHS girls track and field emails, then unsubscribe yourself, or email me at keiser.sarahj@gmail.com with your request to be removed and I will do it for you.

Now on to the more exciting things! For those of you who are new to the program, my name is Sarah Keiser (aka Coach Keiser, Keiser, and hey you usually works too); I am the girls mid-distance and distance coach.  Because of this, when I send out email updates they usually are pretty heavily weighted toward my distance gals, but I also address other 'whole team' issues as well.

As you are well aware of, we have already had 2 competitions this season (the U of M time trials and the Saint Olaf time trials), and we had FANTASTIC results from those who competed! We even had some all time personal records from veteran runners, which is pretty amazing in the first couple meets of the season!  Kelsey Sather had a career PR in the mile with a time of 5:25, that is 15 seconds faster than she ran it last year!  Kara Andersen had a mile  carreer PR as well with a time of 5:43.1. Megan Stuart also acheived a career PR in the mile with a time of 5:32.1 Jordan Gray had posted career PR's in both the 1600 and 800, and Samantha Parsons was only 1 second off of her career 1600 PR!  Laura Mayer blew her previous career mile PR of 7:08.6 out of the water with a time of 6:26.8, that's a drop of 24 seconds!  NICE!  And the PR winner of the first two meets this year goes to Ellee Peterson!   Ellee established new career PR's in every event she has run so far this year!  1:07.5 in the 400, 2:44.7 in the 800, and 6:03.6 in the mile!  Of course all of our 1st time track gals achieved PR's in all of their events because it was simply their first time competing in high school track.  All of our 'newbies' competed hard and established great starting points, and I'm excited to see them continue to drop time as the season progresses.  While most of the distance girls on the roster this year are returning runners (either track or cross country), there is one exception, Kelsi Rippenberger.  Welcom Kelsi!  We are excited to have you join our distance family!

Please feel free to navigate around in our website as there are lot's of 'goodies'.  There is a link to super parent Mark Nachbor's track photographs, a few inspirational links, coach contact information and much more!

Looking forward, we have the Falcon Indoor Meet fast approaching; tomorrow3/28/14.  Please note that just in the last 12 hours, the bus departure time has changed.  The buses will now depart at 4:45pm for the Falcon Indoor Meet. Athletes should arrive dressed and ready to board the buses at 4:30pm at the high school.  If athletes plan to change/use the locker rooms prior to boarding the bus, they should arrive no later than 4:15pm The meet is being held at the University of Minnesota Field House (1800 University Ave, Mpls MN) and is set to begin at 6:10.

Well, that's all I got for now.  I'll leave you with some lovely photos captured at the u of m time trials during the girls 1600meter run!
