XC BOYS' TAKE STATE / GIRLS' FINISH RUNNER-UP

At Saturday's state cross country meet in Wamego, the Ellinwood Eagles men's team captured the state title for the first time since 1967. Congratulations to Pedro Montoya, Morgan Feemster and Kyle Blakeslee for placing in the top 20. Completing the team was Kale Clawson, Kyle Oglesbee, Derek Ward and Shawn Troyer. The solid team effort enabled Ellinwood to outscore the 2nd place team by 32 points. Way to go Men!! On the women's side, the Lady Eagles gave a stellar performance to capture 2nd place for the 2nd year in a row. Congratulations to Jenna Snell and Brooke Panning for placing in the top 20. Rounding out the women's team were Becca Strecker, Becky Elsen, Ashley Reichuber and Chelsea Kaspar, all who ran personal records on a very tough course to take their team to the podium.
