Bracket for the 2013 Eldon Tournament is Released

Since going to a field featuring outstate teams back in 2011, the Eldon Tournament has become a great place for central Missouri hoops fans to see interesting new matchups between teams and styles not often seen in these parts.  This year’s event promises to be more of the same as the bracket for 2013 has recently been released.  The opening night features these games:

• In the 4:30 game, a first-ever meeting between Class 5 schools Marquette (from Chesterfield) and Sedalia Smith-Cotton (with long-time Jefferson City assistant Ray Hughes taking over the helm of the Tigers)
• At 6:00, long-time Eldon Tournament squad School of the Osage will take on Carl Junction from southwest Missouri
• In the feature game at 7:30, the host Mustangs will entertain O’Fallon Christian (a two-time defending district champ with several key players returning)
• In the finale at 9:00, a contrast in styles as a Fox squad set up to be an up-tempo team in 2012-2013 takes on a possession-oriented Savannah Savage team which is coming off a district title of their own last season

As an added bonus this year for the first time, a girls tournament will be played in conjunction with the boys.  The first two nights of the girls event will all be held at the fine facilities at Eldon Junior High with both tournaments being split between the two venues on Saturday.  For a look at the girls bracket, click HERE
