CHAMPAIGN, Ill., - The Indiana men's cross country team had an historical day at the 2011 Big Ten Championships on Sunday taking second place with four runners earning All-Big Ten accolades. The Hoosier women placed 10th overall on the day.

Andrew Poore led the way for Indiana on his way to earning first team All-Big Ten honors with a seventh place finish in the 8K race crossing the line in 23:41. Andy Bayer and Zach Mayhew finished in succession with Bayer taking 10th in 23:56 and Mayhew placing 11th in 23:58. Adrien Dannemiller rebounded from an early fall during the race to finish in 14th with a time of 24:10. Bayer, Mayhew and Dannemiller each earned second team All-Big Ten honors for placing in the top 14 overall. Rounding out the scoring for Indiana was De'Sean Turner who clocked in at 24:18 in 18th position. IU took second place to No. 2 Wisconsin who tallied 17 points.

It was the first time in school history that four Hoosiers earned all-conference laurels in the same meet since the award was first given in 1984. Mayhew has run his way to All-Big Ten status in each of the last three years. IU tallied 60 points, the lowest point total for the men's program since the team tallied 44 points in the 1980 Big Ten meet, when Indiana tied for first with Michigan that season.

In the women's race, Samantha Ginther paced Indiana in 30th place with a time of 21:01 in the 6K run. Caitlin Engel finished just seconds later in the 34th position crossing the line in 21:07. The remaining Hoosiers scoring were Chelsea Blanchard in 51st, Breanne Ehrman in 55th and Arianne Raby in 58th.

IU will host the Hoosier Invitational on Friday, Nov. 4 at the IU Championship Cross Country Course in Bloomington. First race is slated to begin at 4 p.m. ET.
