For the past twenty-five years, Pete Rose has had the statistics to gain entry into the most prestigious hall of notoriety in sports: The Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. After all, with 4,256 career hits, the most career at bats, and a reputation for playing every game like it was his last, it seems only natural that Rose would be a first-ballot entrant when he was due to initially appear on the ballot in 1992. However, as is common knowledge now, that chance never came for “Charlie Hustle”.
