Analyzing NCAA Football Spreads - Part 6: Evaluating The Impact Of College Poll Rankings

The following is Part 6 of a six part analysis on certain factors that are perceived to influence a bettor’s decision when wagering against the spread (ATS) on NCAA football games. Specifically, I have constrained my analysis to games involving at least one team from the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). These studies look at past trends to assess expected future behavior. Consequently, no weight is placed on current rosters, coaching staffs and specific matchups. In Part 6, I analyze how college football ATS results are affected by weekly FBS Associated Press (AP) rankings.
