Analyzing NCAA Football Spreads Part 2: Predicting Results Based On A College's Recent Per

The following is Part 2 of a six part analysis on certain factors that are perceived to influence a bettor’s decision when wagering against the spread (ATS) on NCAA football games. Specifically, I have constrained my analysis to games involving at least one team from the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). These studies look at past trends to assess expected future behavior. Consequently, no weight is placed on current rosters, coaching staffs and specific matchups.

In Part 2, I consider a college’s winning percentage, both straight-up and against the spread, over a recent period of time in evaluating their ATS performance. Note that I have excluded pushes from the determination of a school’s ATS winning percentage or, in other words, a win only reflects profitable outcomes.
