2014 TOP INCOMING IMPACT PLAYERS IN THE ACC

Look for these players to make an immediate impact in the 2014 ACC football season.

WR Travis Rudolph (Florida State). Rudolph has all the tools to be a starter as a true freshman including size, speed, sure hands and route running. Rudolph can play on the outside or in the slot. One huge asset for Rudolph is his ability to make adjustments on the fly. He has tremendous quickness and has the ability to catch the football in the dirt.

RB Elijah Hood (North Carolina). Scouts believe Hood will play a huge role in North Carolina’s offense in 2014. He is big and physical with good speed and very strong legs. He is also very good at catching the football out of the backfield. In North Carolina’s offense, Hood will get better as the game goes along with his ability to pick up yards and huge chunks. North Carolina will also use him in goal line situations.

WR Ermon Lane (Florida State). Lane is another one of the many talented wide receivers at Florida State. He has good size, excellent speed and great hands. Lane has the ability to make the big play and the Seminoles will rely on Lane as he gains experience. Florida State will utilize Lane in the red zone and on the sideline. Florida State will have to keep him focused but there’s no doubt he has the skills to be one of the top young receivers in the country.

DB Quin Blanding (Virginia). Blanding will step in and start immediately for Virginia’s defense that ranked near the bottom of every category in the ACC in 2013. Blanding has ball hawking abilities and can cover ground with his speed, length and explosiveness. The Cavaliers gave up more than 400 yards of total offense per game last season and Blanding will limit those yards over the middle. Blanding is known as a huge hitter and is excellent in run support and can make the big play.

DL Chad Thomas (Miami). Thomas is expected to play DE at Miami after playing defensive tackle in high school. The Hurricanes are expecting Thomas to be a solid contributor as a true freshman especially in pass rushing situations. Miami has plenty of depth on their defensive line, but because of his talent, it will be hard to keep him off the field. Scouts consider Thomas an elite pass rusher who can bring the heat off the edge and put pressure on the opposing quarterback.
