Texas A&M Aggies (2001 - Pres)

Even with the loss of three first-round draft picks to the NFL, the Aggies will once again generate plenty of scoring and excitement in 2014. Former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel led Texas A&M to the fifth ranked scoring offense in the country and fourth overall in total offense. Replacing Johnny football will be between freshman Kyle Allen and sophomore Kenny Hill. It appears Allen has the inside track as the starter. The line may be one of the best in the country led by left tackle Cedric Ogbuehi who is considered perhaps the best left tackle in the nation. Jarvis Harrison returns at left guard, Mike Matthews is back at center and it right tackle will be sophomore Germain Ifedi. The running game will be led by Junior Tra Carson (6-0 230) who is a punishing running back and is a perfect complement to the speedy Trey Williams. Former five-star recruit Brandon Williams will also see time after transferring from Oklahoma. The next go to receiver at Texas A&M may be Ricky Seals- Jones. He is 6’5” and 225 pounds. Senior Malcolm Kennedy returns and will be joined by true freshman Speedy Noil who appears to be a difference maker in the passing game.

Texas A&M Aggies (2007 - Pres)

Texas A&M won nine games last year but had outscore most of their opponents in shootouts because the defense was so bad in 2013, allowing 475.8 yards per game of total offense and 32.2 points per contest. Nine starters return on that defense including tackle Isaiah Golden, tackle Alonzo Williams as well as ends Gavin Stansbury and Julien Obloha. The Aggies added depth by signing five-star and Myles Garrett and heavily recruited prospects Qualen Cunningham and Zaycoven Henderson. Darian Claiborne is the only returning linebacker with starting experience and will be joined by Donnie Baggs and Jordan Mastrogiovanni. Shaan Washington also returns after receiving considerable playing time in 2013. All for starters return in the secondary including free safety Floyd Raven, strong safety Howard Matthews and corners De’Vante Harris and Deshazor Everett.

Texas A&M continues to reload with some big-time recruits and that means they should be contending for the SEC West title once again soon. The biggest issue facing the Aggies this year is youth and inexperience but they should still earn their sixth straight bowl appearance. Texas A&M will be tested early when they open up the season August 28 at South Carolina.
