The NFL Draft is being moved out of New York, and Chicago and Los Angeles are the finalists to host the event next year, league commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday. “We’re focusing solely on Los Angeles and Chicago now,” Goodell told reporters in Beverly Hills, California, according to the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer. Goodell was on the West Coast to help open the 49ers' new stadium and participate in a panel discussion about CBS's Thursday night broadcast package.

Goodell said Chicago and LA beat out New York and nine other cities to host the draft, a three-day weekend extravaganza that could soon be expanded to four days. New York has hosted the event the past 50 years, but Radio City Music Hall won't be available in late April/early May next year when the draft is expected to be be held.
