Ohio State Buckeyes (1968 - Pres)

The 2013 season did not and well for the Ohio State football program. The Buckeyes lost the Big Ten championship game to Michigan State 34-24 and then lost the Orange Bowl to Clemson 42-35. That left a sour taste in the mouth of Ohio State fans after they had visions of a national championship. There are holes to be filled on offense but returning for his fourth year as the starting quarterback will be Braxton Miller. Miller had thoughts of leaving for the NFL but decided to return to Columbus in hopes of winning a Big Ten championship and more. Miller is an explosive player who can still get better as a passing quarterback. He accounted for 3162 total yards and 36 touchdowns last season. Miller will have his top two targets back in receivers Devin Smith and Evan Spencer. Sophomore Dontre Wilson is being compared to Percy Harvin and is expected to see plenty of time as one of the receivers. The running game will now be left up to sophomore Ezekiel Elliott who could be one of the top performers in the Big Ten now that he is a full-time starter. Also look for freshman Curtis Samuel to get some snaps as a true freshman at running back.  One huge concern for the Buckeyes will be the offensive line were only one starter is returning in left tackle Taylor Decker. It will be hard to duplicate Ohio State’s offense from last year that averaged 511.9 yards of total offense per game and 45.5 points per contest.

Ohio State Buckeyes (1968 - Pres)

Only six starters return for Ohio State on defense with the secondary being a big concern last year. Gone are safety Christian Bryant, CJ Barnett and Bradley Roby who left early for the NFL. That leaves a young and inexperienced secondary with senior Doran Grant as the only returning starter. Ohio State will look to Vonn Bell, Tyvis Powell and Armani Reaves to help turn this unit around. The front seven should be solid led by junior Joshua Perry as the team’s returning leading tackler along with senior middle linebacker Curtis Grant. Freshman Raekwon McMillan is expected to compete for a starting position at linebacker. Strong side linebacker Darron Lee is a converted quarterback who will bring athleticism and speed to the Ohio State defense. Up front Ohio State will count on junior defensive end Noah Spence and sophomore Joey Bosa who combined for 15 ½ sacks last year. Joining Spence and Bosa will be Michael Bennett and Aldophus Washington on the inside.

Ohio State Buckeyes (1987 - Pres)

Ohio State 24 consecutive games under head coach Urban Meyer. They very well could be two-time defending national champions except for the NCAA sanctions two years ago and then the loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game last year. There’s plenty of motivation for Ohio State entering the 2014 season and they still have the best talent in the Big Ten. The Eastern division of the Big Ten will not be easy with road games at Penn State, Michigan State and Minnesota. The Buckeyes will have their first real test on September 6th against Virginia Tech and will open up the Big Ten season October 4 on the road at Maryland. There is no reason to believe Ohio State will not play for another Big Ten championship game and this year,  a possible national championship.
