Adrian Peterson: Letting me go would get ugly for Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Adrian Peterson’s likeness has been featured prominently in artists’ renderings of the Minnesota Vikings’ new home. But will the star halfback be on around when the $1 billion stadium opens for the 2016 season?
Peterson made clear in our chat Wednesday he understands he might not. He also was quick – and correct – to point out the reaction fans may have if the Vikings move on from their biggest star, just as they have in recent years with the likes of Percy Harvin and Jared Allen.
“I think the organization would take a heavy hit – for real – more so from the fan base,” Peterson said. “I don’t think it would be like a LeBron (James) situation where they’re burning my jersey, this, that and the other. They might be doing (the opposite) and not buying some season tickets.”
