Colts' Robert Mathis' violation of league's substance abuse policy inexcusable

"I was so careless and lacking in professionalism that I made an extremely negligent error that led to me hurting my team, family, and myself by missing 25 percent of the upcoming season. I deserve the suspension I am receiving."
That's the quote I'd liked to have seen from Indianapolis Colts outside linebacker Robert Mathis, but it never came.
That's not to say he didn't accept responsibility for his carelessness. He did. He just didn't go far enough, if you ask me.
