Wisconsin Wins Big Ten Mens Outdoor Track & Field Championships Title

ROSEMONT, ILL. - Wisconsin claimed the 2014 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field
Championships on Sunday at Rankin Track & Field in West Lafayette, Ind. The Badgers
posted three individual crowns en route to their third-straight title and 26th
overall. Wisconsin becomes the first team to win three-consecutive conference
championships since the Badgers won four in a row from 2004-07.



Wisconsin totaled 121 points to claim the championship, while Illinois (109 points)
and Nebraska (106 points) came in second and third, respectively. Ohio State
finished in fourth place with 80 points, while Purdue rounded out the top five with
79 points.



The Badgers picked up first-place finishes from Mohammed Ahmed (5,000-meter run),
Reed Connor (10,000-meter run) and Zach Ziemek (pentathlon). Wisconsin claimed the
top three spots in both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs, as Connor and Malachy
Schrobilgen followed Ahmed in the 5,000-meters and Ahmed and VanVoorhis finished
behind Connor in the 10,000-meters.



The Illini and Huskers also tallied three first-place finishes at the championships.
Illinois' Vanier Joseph (100-meter hurdles), Joe McAsey (800-meter run) and Stephon
Pamilton (400-meter dash) each won Big Ten titles, while Nebraska's Miles Ukaomoa
(400-meter hurdles), Chad Wright (discus) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Jacob
Bender, Levi Gipson, Cody Rush and Drew Wiseman also claimed conference crowns.


Also earning first-place finishes were Indiana's Rorey Hunter (1,500-meter run),
Iowa's Keith Brown, Tevin Cee-Mincy, James Harrington and O'Shea Wilson (4x100-meter
relay), Michigan's Bradley James (high jump), Minnesota's Zach Seigmeier (pole
vault) and Trevor Yedoni (long jump), Ohio State's Jackson Neff (3,000-meter
steeplechase), Penn State's Darrell Hill (shot put), Michael Shuey (javelin) and
Steve Waithe (triple jump) and Purdue's Chukwuebuka Enekwechi (hammer throw) and
Raheem Mostert (100- and 200-meter dashes).

at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 25.
