Roadtrip To Miami (OH) For Midweek Contest

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 11th ranked Indiana University baseball team (28-12, 13-2 Big Ten) will play at Miami (OH) on Wednesday with a 6:05 p.m. first pitch. The Hoosiers and RedHawks were scheduled to play in Bloomington in late March but that game was rained out. Indiana is 6-1 in midweek games this season.

Indiana OF/C Brad Hartong was named Big Ten Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday, becoming the seventh different Hoosier to be named Player or Pitcher of the Week this season. He joins Casey Rodrigue, Sam Travis, Kyle Schwarber, Dustin DeMuth, Joey DeNato and Kyle Hartas weekly award recipients. In the four games last week, Hartong hit .529 with one home run and 10 RBI and helped the Hoosiers win the weekend series at Illinois.

In the first game of the series at Illinois, the Hoosiers put together 13 hits on their way to a 9-3 victory. It improved LHP Joey DeNatoto 9-1 on the year after he tossed 8.0 innings of three-run baseball. The victory was also the 33rd of his career, further improving his IU record. Hartong was the top bat in the IU lineup, collecting two hits and driving in three runs.

On Saturday, Tim O'Conner's sac fly was the only offense IU could muster in a 2-1 loss. But the bats came back ready to go in Sunday's series finale, pounding out 15 hits on the way to a 11-3 win to take the series from the second place Illini. Brian Korte allowed three runs on two hits to earn his first win of the season while DH Scott Donley and 1B Sam Travisboth hit 2-run home runs..

ROAD, SWEET B1G ROAD
After posting back-to-back series sweeps at Ohio State and at Iowa, the Hoosiers have won their last eight consecutive road games in Big Ten play dating back to the end of the 2013 regular season (2 wins at Ohio State).

HARTONG COMING ON STRONG
Brad Hartongwas named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .529 with one home run and 10 RBI to help the Hoosiers to a 3-1 record last week. He drove in five runs against Ball State in the sixth inning alone and then have five more RBI in the weekend series at Illinois. Eaerlier this season, he had a 6-game hit streak end on April 13, during which he provided another power bat in the already potent Indiana lineup. During the streak, he hit .348 with 2 home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. In the last 15 games, Hartong has racked up 21 of his 31 hits this season as well as 25 of his 27 RBI on the year.

DENATO DEALING
Senior LHP Joey DeNatohas etched his name firmly at the top of most pitching lists at Indiana. He is the career record holder for wins (33), strikeouts (267) and innings pitched (332.0). He is a Big Ten best 9-1 this season with an ERA of 2.26. In 11 starts this season, he has posted a quality start in nine (6.0 IP and 3 ER or less). His most recent start, at Illinois, saw him got eight innings and allowe three runs on 11 hits to get the win.

TRAVIS TRUMPS ALL
Junior1B Sam Travisis hitting .360 overall this season and .391 in Big Ten play. He leads the Big Ten in hits (59) and is second in RBI (40). In Big Ten games, he has registered four home runs and a team-best 15 RBI. The right-handed power hitter also has a pair of multi-home run games to his credit this season.

HOT CORNER ON A HOT STREAK
IU third baseman Dustin DeMuth is swinging a hot stick lately, despite seeing his 16-game hit streak come to an end in the series finale at Iowa. During the hit streak, he hit .452 with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. In addition, DeMuth has reached base successfully in 37 consecutive contests entering the week. The senior, who was selected in the 8th round of the MLB draft last season and elected to return to Indiana, leads the team with a .362 batting average in all games. In Big Ten play, that average increases to .415.
