BIG TEN WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS PREVIEW

All 12 Big Ten women's golf teams will travel to French Lick Resort in French Lick,
Ind., this weekend to compete for the conference title at the 2014 Big Ten Women's
Golf Championships. The event will be held at the 6,017-yard, par-72 Pete Dye
Course.

The championships begin Friday, with first-round action beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
Saturday's second round will also tee off at 9 a.m., while Sunday's third round will
begin at 8 a.m.

The field for this year's championships features 14 of the top 20 finishers from
last season's Big Ten Championships, which was claimed by Northwestern and Purdue.
The Wildcats return Kaitlin Park (6th), Devon Brown (T-7th), Elizabeth Szokol
(T-9th), Hana Lee (T-12th) and Suchaya Tangkamolprasert (T-16th), while the
Boilermakers welcome back Aurora Kan (T-9th). Michigan State's Christine Meier
(T-3rd) and Allyssa Ferrell (5th) also return, while Minnesota's Carmen Laguna
(T-9th) returns for the Golden Gophers. Ohio State's Jan Chanpalangsri (T-20th),
Penn State's Katlyn Elliott (T-3rd) and Ellen Ceresko (T-16th) and Wisconsin's
Alexis Nelson (T-12th) and Kris Yoo (T-16th) are also among last year's top 20
returning players.

Four Big Ten teams are ranked among the top 50 according to the latest
Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings. Northwestern leads the way at No. 12, followed
by No. 25 Ohio State, No. 31 Michigan State and No. 48 Wisconsin.

Northwestern and Purdue shared the Big Ten Championship last season after shooting a
three-round score of 884. Michigan State finished third with a score of 889, Penn
State took fourth (900) and Indiana (916) rounded out the top five.
