Co-Players of the Week



Taylor Edwards, Nebraska

Sr., C, Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta



*        Batted .571 with four hits, four RBI, five runs scored and two home runs in
a weekend sweep over Ohio State

*        Posted a .750 on-base percentage and slugging percentage of 1.571 on the
weekend, reaching base safely in nine of her 12 plate appearances

*        Tallied one hit, drove in a run, scored a pair of runs and drew a walk in
Friday's series opener

*        Hit a solo home run and drew two walks in game one of Saturday's doubleheader

*        Tallied two hits, including a home run, drove in two runs and scored a pair
of runs in the series finale, helping the Huskers extend their winning streak to
seven games

*        Collects her second career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

*        Last Nebraska Big Ten Player of the Week: Hailey Decker (March 31, 2014)



Marisa Bast, Northwestern

Sr., 3B, Orange, Calif./Villa Park

runs in Northwestern's four games last week, including a weekend sweep over Indiana

*        In the series against the Hoosiers, batted .625, posted an on-base
percentage of .727 and slugged at a clip of 1.375

*        Tallied one hit, drove in a run, scored one run and stole a base in a
run-rule win over Loyola-Chicago

*        Tallied two hits and drove in three runs, including a home run, in the
series opener against Indiana

*        Reached base safely in each of her plate appearances in game two against
the Hoosiers, collecting a pair of hits and one RBI while scoring two runs and
drawing a walk

*        Tallied one hit, scored a run and drew two walks in the series finale

*        Collects her first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Pitcher of the Week



Kelly Smith, Michigan State

Sr., RHP, Friendswood, Texas/McLennan Community College



*        Picked up three wins on the week, including a pair of complete game
victories over Iowa to help the Spartans win their first series in Iowa City in
school history

*        Pitched a total of 21.0 innings, scattering five hits without conceding a run

*        For the week, recorded 23 strikeouts against just three walks

*        Threw her first career no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Eastern Michigan,
striking out nine batters

*        Threw all 7.0 innings in the series opener at Iowa, striking out eight
batters against one walk

*        Went the distance in the circle in Sunday's rubber match, striking out six
batters while scattering five hits

*        Wins her second career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor

Freshman of the Week



Katy McJunkin, Purdue

*        Tallied at least one base hit in every game, including a pair of multi-hit
performances

*        In the series opener against the Illini, plated four runs with a three-run
home run and a double

*        Went 2-for-3 from the plate in the series finale

*        Earns her second Freshman of the Week honor
