Tennis Teams, Golf Head to Championships

The tennis teams along with the golf team will compete in their Horizon League Championships this week while baseball, softball and track continue their schedules.
Baseball: Wright State is 21-16 overall and 15-2 in the Horizon League after extending its winning streak to six games by sweeping UIC in a three-game series last weekend.
WSU will return to action with a game at Akron (20-16) on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 pm. The week will end in Rochester, Michigan, as the Raiders take on Oakland (7-21, 2-10 Horizon) for a three-game series. The first game will be played on Friday at 3:00, the second on Saturday at 1:00, and the third on Sunday at 1:00. Wright State swept the Golden Grizzlies earlier in the season which included a 14-inning 5-4 victory.
Softball: The Wright State softball team is 13-27 overall and 8-5 in the Horizon League after finishing 3-2 in last week’s action. The week featured a win against Marshall and two at Youngstown State.
The Raiders will host a three-game series against conference foe Valparaiso (16-24, 8-3 Horizon) this weekend. The series starts on Saturday, April 26, with a doubleheader at 1:00 with the final game Sunday at 1:00.
Track & Field: The Wright State track and field team competed in the Jesse Owens Classic this past weekend.
Sarah-Ann Blount ran a 14.31 in the 100 meter hurdles on her way to beating all other Horizon League competitors in that events. Kacia Grant set a new personal record with a time of 24.70 in the 200 meter dash.
The Raiders return to action on Saturday, April 26, at the RedHawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
Men’s Tennis: The men’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss against Green Bay on Saturday, finishing the regular season with a 10-13, 4-2 Horizon record.
Wright State will be the #3 seed in the Horizon League Tournament at the University of Michigan Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Raiders face #6 seed Youngstown State (5-16, 1-5 Horizon) in the first round on Friday, April 25 at 3:00. WSU and YSU last met on March 22 in a match that ended in a 5-2 Raider victory. The winner will take on #2 seed Cleveland State (14-7, 5-1 Horizon) on Saturday, also at 3:00.
Women’s Tennis: The women’s tennis team finished the regular season with a 9-16, 3-5 Horizon record.
The Raiders will be the #6 seed in the Horizon League Tournament this week in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Wright State faces #3 seed Youngstown State (11-11, 6-2 Horizon) in the first round on Friday, April 25 at 11:00 with the winner taking on #2 seed Milwaukee (13-8, 7-1 Horizon) on Saturday, April 26, also at 11:00. WSU fell to Youngstown State 6-1 in a match earlier in the season.
Golf: The golf team finished tied for 13th at the Rutherford Intercollegiate last week as Cody Nickson and Conner Lash tied for 34th.
Wright State heads to Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida, for the Horizon League Championships this weekend. The three-round event starts on Friday and continues through Sunday.
