Will the Detroit Tigers Regret the Miguel Cabrera Deal?

Miguel Cabrera is a special player. In a way, he was Mike Trout before anybody heard of Mike Trout. As a rookie in 2003, he hit 12 homeruns in only 87 games, and then added 3 more in 17 playoff games while guiding the Florida Marlins to a World Series title. As a sophomore in 2004, he made his first All-Star team still at the tender age of 21, all while hitting 33 bombs and 112 RBI's. Since then, he has never stopped raking.

Since his debut in 2003, Cabrera ranks third in WAR (only behind Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez), fourth in homeruns, first in RBI's, and fifth in wOBA and wRC+. Since 2004, he has never hit below 26 long balls or driven anything below 106 RBI. He has also been quite durable, missing a minuscule total of 47 games during that same span. His OPS+ last season was a league-leading 187, and he is coming off back-to-back-to-back AL batting titles to go along with his consecutive AL MVP's. Maybe the only thing missing in Cabrera's resume is a title with the Detroit Tigers (for whom he's played since 2008), but that's just nitpicking.
