Michigan Mens Basketball Wins Outright Big Ten Championship

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Following its 84-53 win at Illinois on Tuesday night, Michigan
clinched its first outright Big Ten Championship since the 1985-86 season. The
Wolverines, who captured a share of the title last Saturday, have won 14 Big Ten
Championships. With Tuesday’s win, Michigan also secured the top seed in next week’s
Big Ten Tournament.

Nik Stauskas scored a game-high 24 points on seven three-pointers, Caris LeVert
added 15 and Glenn Robinson III chipped in 13 points. Michigan led Illinois 52-30 at
halftime, and shot 56.9 percent from the field in the game.


The Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled for March 13-16 at Bankers Life
Fieldhouse in Indianapolis with all tickets sold out in advance for the second
straight year. The Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, which returns to Indy for
the ninth time in event history, features 11 games over four days, beginning with
four games on Thursday, and the top four teams will receive byes into Friday’s
