Arkansas’ Coty Clarke, a 6-foot-7, 232-pound senior forward from Birmingham, Ala., was named SEC Player of the Week after averaging 17 points and five rebounds in wins at Kentucky and against Georgia. Clarke went for a career-high 23 points, including 15 in the first half, in Saturday’s win over Georgia. The 15-point first half vs. Georgia in 15 minutes on the floor combined with the five-minute overtime in which Clarke scored seven points at Kentucky gave him 22 points over 20 minutes played. He accounted for seven of the team’s 11 points in overtime in the win at Kentucky to finish with 11 while clearing a team-high seven boards. 
 
Alabama’s Shannon Hale, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound freshman forward from Johnson City, Tenn., was named SEC?Freshman of the Week after averaging 17 points and five rebounds against Ole Miss and Auburn. He led the Tide by shooting 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the floor, 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from beyond the arc and 90.9 percent (10-of-11) from the free throw line. In the game at Ole Miss, Hale scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds – both season highs.
