Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota Earn Weekly Softball Honors

Player of the Week

Alex Booker, Illinois

Sr., LF, Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township

*        Batted .529, collected nine hits and drove in six runs with three doubles,
one triple, one home run and three stolen bases in leading Illinois to a 3-1 record
at the UTA Hilton Invitational in Arlington, Texas, last weekend

*        Reached base in all four games, tallying an on-base percentage of .529 and
a slugging percentage of 1.000

*        In the win over UMKC, tallied three hits, scored one run and recorded one
stolen base

*        Became the first Illinois player in school history to hit for the cycle in
the ensuing win over Creighton, plating three runs on four hits while scoring twice

*        Drove in the winning run with a two-run double against UT-Arlington while
also scoring one run and stealing her third base of the week

*        Collects her first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Pitcher of the Week

Sara Moulton, Minnesota

Sr., RHP, Eagan, Minn./Eagan

*        Threw 17.0 innings without conceding a run at the UNCG Spartan Classic,
collecting three wins

*        Recorded 28 strikeouts against one walk, including her 1,000th career punch
out, and limited opposing batters to an .056 batting average

*        Threw her fifth career no-hitter against Hampton, striking out 11 batters

*        Tossed a complete game with 11 strikeouts against George Washington

*        Threw five innings with six punch outs versus UNC-Greensboro

*        Wins her 10th career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor and second this season

*        Last Minnesota Big Ten Pitcher of the Week: Sara Moulton (Feb. 10, 2014)

Freshman of the Week

Megan Betsa, Michigan

RHP, McDonough, Ga./Union Grove

*        Earned two wins at the FAU Kickoff Classic, pitching 12.0 innings without
conceding a run and striking out 15 batters

*        Threw 5.0 innings against Pittsburgh, scattering just three hits while
striking out four

*        Tossed a complete game versus Florida Atlantic, striking out 11 batters
while surrendering just one walk and three hits

*        Earns her second Freshman of the Week honor in as many weeks
