Thirty-nine of 61 conference games (63.9%) have been decided by 11 points or less, with 32 matchups determined by nine points or fewer.
The Big 12 is the No. 1 conference in the latest overall RPI, strength of schedule, non-conference RPI and non-conference strength of schedule. Six teams are in the top 45 and eight in the top 71 - the most of any conference.
Seven Big 12 teams (out of 10) have been ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 this season. The conference has had at least five ranked all but one week so far in 2014 and 45 times overall in Big 12 history.
Nine Big 12 schools ranked among the top 70 in the ESPN Basketball Power Index (BPI). Nine league teams are in the top 73 of the Sagarin ratings, which also ranks the Big 12 as the No. 1 conference.
As a league, the Big 12 is averaging 76.6 points per game. The scoring mark is first among all conferences nationally.
Prior to this year, no team in college basketball had won four consecutive games in four straight games played versus AP top 25 foes since 1997. This season, it’s been done twice - both by Big 12 teams (Kansas, Texas).
The Big 12 winning percentage in non-conference play of .797 is the best of any conference in the nation. The league has posted a 102-26 mark this season.
Eight wins against top 25 non-conference opponents, as the Big 12 has posted an 8-9 (.471) record so far this year. The Big 12 has the best winning percentage of any league and the most wins against the AP top 25.
The Big 12 has a .500 or better record against 27 of the 29 conferences it has faced this season.
15 non-conference wins by Big 12 teams dating back to December 22. Conference squads are 34-6 versus non-league foes since December 13.
26 non-conference losses by Big 12 teams this season. It’s the fewest of any conference in the nation.
The Big 12 has five teams ranked in the top 27 nationally in points per game - more than twice as many as any conference in the country.
