BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head football coach Kevin Wilsonannounced Wednesday the signing of 26 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to play for the Hoosiers in 2014.
"We are pleased with the way our class came together," Wilson said. "With a few years under our belt we have gotten comfortable within the Midwest region, our ties in Indiana and the surrounding states. We continue to do well in Georgia and Florida. Our strategy of how we sell our school and how we sell our program has really given us the chance to land back-to-back strong classes. On paper, they are the best back-to-back classes in school history. But now we need to take that paper product, work with it in the years to come and keep building our program."
IU signed 14 defensive players and 12 offensive players. The Hoosiers added six defensive backs, four defensive linemen and four linebackers on defense and four offensive linemen, four wide receivers, two running backs, one tight end and one quarterback on offense.
The class features players from eight different states, including six from Ohio, five from Indiana, five from Georgia, four from Florida, three from Illinois, one from California, one from New York and one from South Carolina.
"The total commitment of our community throughout the recruiting process has been phenomenal," Wilson said. "There is a great vibe when we go out to restaurants, hotels and basektball games; our fans are there backing us. Our players are great recruiters. I want to acknowledge our coaches as well, and it all starts with their families - the wives and loved ones allowing them to get out and hit the recruiting road running. Despite some new coaches, the opportunity to maintain a great recruiting class like this is a credit to our school, our staff and our community. Bloomington is an ideal place to build a great football program for years to come."
