Kicked out: NFL considers abolishing extra points

If you're one who believes commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL are tampering with the game of football too much by modifying rules to protect players, you'll really dislike this one — but it's very interesting.
Goodell told NFL Total Access Monday the league is exploring the possibility of eliminating extra points.
“The extra point is almost automatic,” Goodell said. “I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd. So it’s a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play."
Touchdowns would be worth seven points, not six. Rather than sending the kicking team on after a touchdown, teams would have a choice whether to attempt to get in the end zone for a conversion and a total of eight points. A failed conversion, however, would drop the damage down to six points.
