Bill O'Brien leaving Penn State

January 1, 2014

Penn State coach Bill O'Brien will become the Houston Texans' new coach, according to multiple reports.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain reported Tuesday night the deal was done.

O'Brien returns to the NFL two seasons after taking over the Nittany Lions in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

O’Brien already was on the fast track for NFL head-coaching jobs during his seven seasons on Bill Belichick’s staff in New England. That covered each of the Patriots’ last two Super Bowl trips; he was offensive coordinator for their second defeat by the Giants after the 2011 season.
