WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --Rejuvenated by its 73-70 win at West Virginia, the Purdue men's basketball team looks to keep the momentum rolling as it rings in the New Year by welcoming unbeaten and third-ranked Ohio State for a New Year's Eve day clash, beginning at 1 p.m. (ET) at Mackey Arena.

Boilermakers Open Big Ten Play Against Unbeaten Ohio State
The Purdue men's basketball team (10-3) will ring in the new year by opening Big Ten play on Tuesday against unbeaten and third-ranked Ohio State (13-0) at 1 p.m. (ET) at Mackey Arena. The contest will be televised on ESPN2 with Dave Flemming and Sean Farnham calling the action, in addition to a stream on ESPN3. Fans can also listen to the game on the Purdue Sports Network as Larry Clisby, Ralph Taylor and Rob Blackman provide the radio call courtside. Purdue At a Glance
-- Purdue ended its non-conference portion of the schedule nine days ago with its biggest win of the season to date -- a 73-70 victory at West Virginia in the team's only "true" non-conference road game. The Boilermakers reached double-digit non-conference wins for the sixth time in Matt Painter's nine years at Purdue (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007).
-- Purdue puts its unbeaten home record on the line against the third-ranked Buckeyes on New Year's Eve Day. The Boilermakers are 8-0 at home, one of 21 schools nationally that boast a home record of 8-0 or better. Purdue is outscoring foes by almost 17 points per game at Mackey Arena and is shooting 48.3 percent from the field, while limiting foes to just 38.3 percent from the floor. In the last three games, opponents are averaging just 60.3 points per game in Mackey Arena.
-- Purdue is coming off a 73-70 victory over West Virginia, in which the Boilermakers took control of late in the first half and led for the entire second half. Several players made big plays down the stretch and the Boilermakers held West Virginia to just 3-of-18 (.167) from three-point range after the Mountaineers had entered the game shooting 41.7 percent from deep. Terone and Ronnie Johnson combined for 34 points and Purdue won despite Jay Simpson playing just two minutes because of the flu.
-- Purdue has 10 players averaging between 4.5 and 14.0 points per game and between 13.6 and 28.3 minutes per game with just two players (Terone and Ronnie Johnson) averaging more than 20.0 minutes per contest. Terone Johnson leads Purdue in scoring at 14.0 points per game, while brother Ronnie averages 10.8 and leads the team in assists (3.8). A.J. Hammonsis averaging 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 blocks in just 19.8 minutes per contest.

Ohio State At a Glance
Ohio State enters the contest as one of eight remaining unbeatens and ranked No. 3 in the country with a 13-0 record. The name of the game for the Buckeyes is defense as the Buckeyes rank third in the country in both scoring defense (54.0 ppg) and field goal percentage defense (.364) and are first in three-point percentage defense (.243). Having started the same lineup for all 13 games, Lenzelle Smith, Jr., leads the way in scoring at 13.4 points per game, while LaQuinton Ross averages 12.9 points per contest.
